Atlantis Paradise Island’s Aquaventure Waterpark Is A Trip Unto Itself

The Atlantis Paradise Island Resort is no doubt a bucket list item on the travel to-do list, but in many respects it’s a resort inside a resort inside a resort.

There are those who travel there for the gaming, for the crystal clear-turned-aqua waters of the Caribbean, for the nightlife, for the food, or for the water park.

Yes, the water park.

And that’s an understatement.

Aquaventure, the 141-acre water park located on Atlantis Paradise Island, is like no other. How can it be with more than 20 million gallons of water, a river ride that goes on for more than a mile and 20 separate swimming areas?

Water slides. What’s a water park without water slides? Atlantis Paradise Island offers up more than its fair share. With nine slides from which to choose, there is even something for the younger set.  Guests can take their own Leap of Faith when they head down a 60-foot, almost vertical drop from the top of the iconic Mayan temple before hurtling through a shark-filled lagoon in a clear acrylic tube. Not afraid of the dark? Then dare to try The Abyss, a 50-foot near vertical drop taken in total darkness, before you emerge into The Cenote, an underground cave of prehistoric sea creatures.

River rides. Death-defying stunts not your cup of tea? Meander down the Lazy River, where you can gently bob along a quarter-mile loop in the comfort of your own inner tube. Looking for something with a little more action? Head over to The Current, where you can ride the rapids again and again thanks to water conveyors that bring you effortlessly back to the start of this mile-long run.

Pools. Sometimes you just want to lounge by the pool or have a relaxing dip. Luckily, Atlantis Paradise Island’s Aquaventure has 11 different pools and 20 separate swimming areas from which to choose. The Cove Pool offers up an adult-only experience, while on the other end of the spectrum three kiddie pools have been created specifically for the park’s youngest guests. The remaining all-ages pools offer distinct experiences, some with zero-entry and even a few waterfalls.
